“After the Government through the Chief of Staff responded to our petition No.2 unfavourably, The following resolutions were agreed and motioned by
the SRC EXECUTIVES & PROVINCIAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION PRESIDENTS in a CLOSED DOOR MEETING today (13th March, 2013 @11am – 2.15pm)
1) The petition of the students of Unitech is Non-negotiable.
2) The peaceful boycott of classes will continue until Friday 15 March, 2013.
3) As of tomorrow, all operations of Unitech – both academic and administrative – will be shut down and come to a complete close, as per the directions of the Acting Vice Chancellor.
4) Acting VC, Prof. Pumwa will write a letter to the PM today informing him of
our present stand and the situation here in Unitech requesting him to be here on
campus by Friday 15 March, at 10am. This letter will be sent this afternoon.
5) The Opposition Team must be on campus by Monday 18 March to hear the
Petition and plight of the Unitech students.
6) A press statement will be made jointly by the Unitech and UPNG SRC Presidents together. The UPNG SRC President, Mr. Peter NUMU, will be present on campus tomorrow to pledge his support for Unitech to bring Dr. Albert Schram back to Unitech, in the presence of the PM on Friday.
7) The Chief of Staff and the Chief Secretary will not be allowed to enter the
Unitech campus under any circumstances.
8) If the Petition of the Students is not adhered to by the end of business hours
on Monday 18 March 2013, the students will proceed to a mass withdrawal of
students from the University on Tuesday 19 March 2013. This will be the final
resolution after the exhaustion of all other possibilities.
